Susan Carter got the club entry to London in the draw which took place at the Christmas relays at Crownpoint. She’s now pounding out the miles around her Bearsden home (see separate article)....

Other club London Marathon hopefuls for 1998 are Frances Florence and Eileen Reid. Anne-Marie Hughes is threatening not to run, but we’re still hoping. Good luck from all of us on 26th April...we’ll be glued to our tellies rooting for you.......

As intimated previously, Amanda finally produced the goods on 18th December when baby Gemma Patricia entered the world at 8 lbs 13 ozs. Congratulations Amanda and it was great to see you looking so well at the AGM. Hopefully, little Gemma is letting mum and dad get enough sleep and we’ll see Amanda back running again in the near future. I believe she’s coming along to the 5k.....

Lara Halliday’s romance took a sudden change of direction when Adrian proposed the weekend before the AGM and she turned up sporting a beautiful diamond ring. The wedding’s set for July...and with Lara’s organisational skills it’s bound to be a rip-roaring success. Congratulations, Lara from everyone at SHL......

Debbie Norton’s been missing from the scene for a while. She’s still running though and has teamed up with some workmates from her station. Meantime, she’s about to complete her second stint at Tulliallan and still loving her job with the Police. I hear her romance has also taken a new turn and she and boyfriend Simon will become joint property owners in the summer. She’s not daft, though. Her new house is in the same street as mum and dad, so she can still call on them for help with the housework, shopping, decorating....all the exciting things that go with home ownership. Good luck, Debbie...get in touch soon!!!!....

All the talk about babies hasn’t finished yet. Another of our clubmates is planning to add to the world’s population. Yes, another pregnancy is announced. This time it’s the turn of Margaret Hastings to be a lady in waiting. She’s due around late August so this year she’ll be spectating at the Great Scottish Run. Is there something in the water??????

Night Out!!!

Party animal..............

Speaking of Lara’s organisational skills, we all thought that with a wedding to arrange we would let her off the hook and not ask her to sort out some social stuff for us until she got her feet back on the ground. Lara, however, had different ideas and has booked a huge table at Di Maggio’s on Friday, 1st May. This will give us all an excellent chance to recover from the efforts of the 5k road race the night before - whether you were racing or one of the essential support team. You’ll find a reply slip at the back of the Newsletter. Get in touch with Lara as soon as possible if you want to come along
