Undergraduate Entrance Requirements
Accounting
Our entry requirements are the highest for any accounting course in Scotland. This is reflected in the demand for our graduates. Places are never available at clearing.
There are three routes to a degree in accountancy at the University of Strathclyde.
The minimum entrance requirements for all accounting courses are set out below. We only admit a limited number of students each year and therefore achieving the minimum entrance requirements will not guarantee acceptance. We recommend that you attempt to achieve the entrance requirements at one sitting.

- BSc in Technology and Business Studies (with Accounting)
- BSc in Mathematics, Statistics and Accounting
Highers (at one sitting)
AAAA or AAABB Applicants must have Higher Mathematics (grade B or better) and Higher English.
Highers & CSYS (two sittings)
AAABBB or AABBBBC or ABBBBBB. Applicants must have Higher Mathematics (grade B or better) and Higher English.
A-Levels
BBB Applicants must have A-level Mathematics and GCSE English.
(Higher Secretarial Studies and A-level General Studies are not accepted.)
Professional Exemptions
Students may choose to take an accredited accounting degree which provides the maximum available exemptions from the examinations of the professional accounting bodies.
Graduates will be required to undergo practical training and pass additional professional examinations before becoming fully qualified accountants.
Finance
There are three routes to a degree in Finance at the University of Strathclyde.
The minimum entry requirements for all finance courses are as follows
- BA Principal Subject Finance
- BA in International Business and Modern Languages
- BSc in Mathematics, Statistics and Finance
Highers (at one sitting)
AABB or ABBBC. Applicants must have Higher English and Higher Mathematics (grade B or better).
Highers & CSYS (two sittings)
ABBBB or BBBBBC Applicants must have Higher English and Higher Mathematics (grade B or better).
A-Levels
BBC. Applicants must have A-level Mathematics and GCSE English.
(Higher Secretarial Studies and A-level General Studies are not accepted.)
